In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@RMSST. At our TEDxYouth@RMSST event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Charlotte Wright

Research Student - RMSST

Charlotte Wright is a passionate research student at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, dedicated to exploring the power of storytelling in hip-hop. David Buchanan

David Buchanan is a driven research student at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, inspired by entrepreneurship and innovation from a young age. Fascinated by shows like Shark Tank, he developed a keen interest in business strategy and creative problem-solving, leading him to freelance editing and online entrepreneurship. Through years of self-guided learning, David has crafted a method for success that others can apply to their own journey. At TEDxYouth@RMSST, he shares insights on passion, perseverance, and adaptability, showing how innovation fuels achievement and transforms ideas into reality.

Dayana Theus, a student at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, is driven by a passion for education and its power to shape society. She believes knowledge is not just a tool but a force for change— essential in navigating social and political challenges. Through her TEDxYouth@RMSST talk, Dayana hopes to inspire her peers to embrace scholarship, think critically, and recognize the value of being well-informed. Gabrielle Thomson

Gabrielle Thomson is a dedicated research student at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, passionate about the impact of public speaking and the power of thought-provoking discourse. Through her experience in speech and debate, she has seen firsthand how discussions on topics like bullying and social anxiety can shape perspectives and inspire change. At TEDxYouth@RMSST, Gabrielle seeks to challenge her peers to consider morality and empathy in their daily lives. Her talk encourages mindfulness, ethical self-reflection, and compassion, providing listeners with tools to navigate an increasingly complex world.

Joanna Rhee

Research Student - RMSST

Joanna Rhee is a passionate research student at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, driven by the desire to challenge societal perspectives and spark meaningful conversations. With a keen interest in public speaking and a love for complex discussions, Joanna uses platforms like TEDx to inspire others to rethink deeply ingrained beliefs. Her talk focuses on aging—not as a problem to be managed, but as a natural and valuable stage of life. Through her presentation, she aims to shed light on the isolation the elderly face and encourage a shift toward a more compassionate, inclusive system. Joanna hopes to leave her audience with a new perspective—one that sees aging as a time of wisdom and continued contribution rather than decline.

Prakash Gupta is a 12th Grade Research student at Rockdale Magnet School. Prakash is an aspiring mathematician and computer scientist. He is passionate about robotics, the environment, and believes heavily in the importance of education.
