Our TEDx event explores the journey of growth and development across multiple sectors and from different points of view to emphasise how interconnected the challenges we face are and how they impact our mental, emotional and ideological evolution. The event serves to shine a light on the interplay between external experiences and the transformative processes that shape our identity.
The theme delves into how our history, culture, and daily challenges influence not only our external encounters but also the deeper, internal journey of self-discovery on both an individualistic and societal level. It reflects on the concept of transforming and illustrates how individuals and communities continuously evolve in response to the world around them. This holistic exploration of growth underscores that development arises from both external circumstances, often beyond our control, and internal processes of reflection and realisation.
Inspired by the philosophical concept of Chryssipus’ cylinder, the event draws on the ideas of agency, causation, and compatibilism to examine how our experiences shape our identity while emphasising the role of choice and self-awareness in navigating life’s complexities.
Through thought-provoking talks and shared experiences about development in different scenarios, the event aims to inspire attendees to reflect on their own journeys, embrace challenges as catalysts for growth, and celebrate the ongoing process of personal transformation.
