Dema Elya
Youth Participation Advocate
Dema Elya is a former student of Jacob van Liesveldt, where she graduated in 2022. During her time there, she completed six years of bilingual education, including three years of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. She is currently studying Political Science, specialising in International Relations and Organizations at Leiden University. In 2023, Dema served as the Dutch Youth Delegate to the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, where she represented her views on an international stage. She was also a member of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) to the NGO Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening (CEPPS). In this role, she worked on strengthening youth programs that focused on making these programs more inclusive and accessible. Currently, Dema is a member of the West Wing which is the think tank of and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She continues to advocate for youth participation and hopes to inspire others to do the same.
