Our event will showcase a diverse array of speakers from various disciplines—each chosen for their ability to inspire, challenge, and provoke thought among our attendees. Through their stories, insights, and experiences, we aim to illuminate the ways in which curiosity can lead as a powerful force for change.

Adel Sedra

Dr. Adel Sedra is a renowned electrical engineer and academic, celebrated for his contributions to microelectronics and engineering education. Born in Egypt on November 2, 1943, he earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University in 1964. He then moved to Canada, where he pursued graduate studies at the University of Toronto, completing his M.A.Sc. in 1968 and Ph.D. in 1969. Sedra’s academic career flourished at the University of Toronto, where he became a professor in 1978 and later chaired the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1986 to 1993. His leadership extended to university administration when he served as Vice-President, Provost, and Chief Academic Officer until 2002. In 2003, Sedra took on the role of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where he also chaired the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology. His research primarily focused on circuit theory and the design of communication and instrumentation systems. Among his most significant contributions is the co-invention of the current conveyor, a breakthrough in analog circuit design, alongside K.C. Smith. His work has had a profound impact on electronics, influencing both theoretical advancements and practical applications. Sedra’s influence extends beyond research into engineering education. He co-authored Microelectronic Circuits, a widely used textbook that has shaped the learning of countless engineering students worldwide. His academic contributions include approximately 130 published papers, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader in the field. For his outstanding contributions, Sedra has received numerous accolades, particularly from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the Royal Society of Canada—honors that recognize his enduring impact on engineering and education. His legacy is marked by his pioneering research, influential teaching, and leadership in academia.

Annaya Srivastava

Anna is a high school student with a passion for pushing boundaries and exploring new interests. She believes in constantly challenging the status quo and embracing every opportunity for growth. Whether engaging in an intense laser tag match or experimenting with a new hobby, she sees each experience as a chance to learn and evolve. Driven by curiosity and a desire to make a meaningful impact, Anna is dedicated to transforming ideas into action. With a focus on innovation and personal development, she embraces opportunities that foster continuous growth.

Cristiano Da Silva

Cristiano is a Nanoengineering student at the University of Waterloo passionate about tackling global challenges through technology and education. Combining his passion for environmentalism and engineering, he designed a reusable glucose monitor applicator to improve the affordability and sustainability of diabetes treatment, earning a gold medal from the Toronto Science Fair. Cristiano was one of only three Canadians chosen for the prestigious Rise Global Scholarship from the Rhodes Trust, allowing him to present his research and advocacy at a summit at the University of Oxford. He has modeled neurotransmitters for a research program at the University of Toronto, and worked as both a swimming and painting instructor for students with cognitive disabilities. Cristiano is a rising leader, exemplifying the importance of innovative thinking and a commitment to social impact.

Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Fitzgerald is the CEO of RAMPF Composite Solutions Inc., a Burlington, Ontario-based company specializing in designing and manufacturing composite components for industries such as aerospace, defense, and transportation. Over the past six years, Larry has modernized operations at RAMPF, establishing it as a leading composite solutions provider in North America. Larry's extensive career includes executive roles across aerospace, manufacturing, and consulting engineering sectors. Before joining RAMPF, he held positions such as Chairman of Watt Consulting Group, CEO of Wainbee Ltd, and VP of Operations at Precision Castparts Canada. He also served as the General Manager for Honeywell Aerospace and Centra Industries. He holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business, along with executive training from the University of Michigan. Additionally, he is certified in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Larry is highly involved in industry leadership, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Aerospace Council and previously for the Aerospace Industry Association of Canada. He has also been active in community leadership, serving as President of local baseball associations. Known for his passion for aerospace, Larry has a proven track record of improving productivity in tech-driven businesses and driving operational excellence.

Monica Emelko

Monica Emelko is a Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Water Science, Technology & Policy at the University of Waterloo in Canada. She is a Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Dr. Emelko holds chemical and environmental engineering degrees from MIT, UCLA, and the University of Waterloo and has served as a technical advisor to the U.S. National Academies of Engineering, Science, and Medicine, Health Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada, as well as several other federal and provincial/state agencies in Canada, the United States, and globally regarding regulatory development related to water treatment, source water protection, public health policy, risk analysis, and integrated resource management. She has worked on wildfire and its implications to drinking water treatment since 2004. Her team was the first globally to describe wildfire effects on drinking water treatability. They are regularly cited by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for identifying these linkages and received the Canadian Council of the Federation Award of Excellence in Water Stewardship in 2014. In 2016, Dr. Emelko assisted as first responder helping with water treatment response and re-entry risk management during and after the wildfire in Fort McMurray and received a citation from the Premier for service to the province. Professor Emelko is the Scientific Director of “forWater” a Canada-wide and internationally partnered research network focused on maximizing benefit from concurrent forest management-based approaches for drinking water source protection and enhanced resilience in water treatment, operations, and risk management.

Patrick Francey

Patrick Francey is a highly respected leader in real estate investment education, entrepreneurship, and personal development. With over 40 years of experience, he has helped countless individuals achieve financial success. As the CEO of the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN), Patrick has played a pivotal role in guiding investors through the complexities of real estate markets. Under his leadership, REIN members have transacted over 43,000 properties, collectively valued at more than $5.3 billion. Patrick’s approach to success is built on integrity, mindfulness, and purpose, emphasizing the importance of culture and environment in achieving financial and personal growth. Beyond his role at REIN, Patrick is a successful entrepreneur with multiple business ventures. His teachings inspire a global audience of investors and business leaders, focusing on empowering individuals to take control of their financial futures through informed decision-making. His holistic approach to financial independence integrates both practical investing strategies and personal development. Patrick’s contributions to the industry continue to shape the future of real estate investing in Canada. By equipping investors with the right tools, systems, and knowledge, he has built a community dedicated to sustainable wealth creation. His dedication to education, leadership, and strategic investing has cemented his reputation as a key figure in the real estate investment space.

Reda Fayek

Dr. Reda Fayek is an established leader in technology and biotechnology, boasting over 25 years of experience across global markets. With a PhD in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an Executive MBA from Ivey Business School, Reda has revitalized multiple companies, especially within life sciences and robotics. He currently serves as President of Kimitek Inc. and a mentor at Boundless Accelerator. His career is marked by strategic business transformations and significant product commercializations, emphasizing his adeptness at enhancing shareholder value and fostering innovation.

Richard Dolan

Richard Dolan is a 30-year veteran within the human betterment realm, with an established history in wealth management. He is the CEO of The House of Legacy, a group of companies dedicated to reimagining legacies for Icons, Legends and Gods of commerce and culture. Based in Toronto with offices in New York, Los Angeles and London; The House of Legacy is an advisory-oriented business providing strategy, marketing and venture catalyzation. His boutique bank is responsible for advising over $2.5B in AUM. Richard is described by Forbes magazine as “a business advisor to titans of industry futurizing their power, presence and purpose. Richard has earned three NBA Championship rings with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers, primarily given his work and contribution to Lebron James. He is the author of 14 publications on subject matter including wealth management, real estate investing, performance psychology and leadership. With a background in happiness economics, behavioral finance and investor resilience; Richard is a visiting professor at Schulich School of Business (Executive Development division) co-authoring the Certificate in Wealth Management Program and Certificate in Marketing and Selling Wealth Management Services. Today, Richard advises on the subject of business for what’s new, now, and next with the likes of the most epic actors, musicians, athletes, thought leaders, CEO’s and members of The Royal Family. Richard is the proud father of Mateo and resides in Toronto.

Steffany Hanlen-Francey

Steffany Hanlen-Francey is an internationally recognized Olympic and world-class athletic and business mental performance coach with over 30 years of pioneering expertise. Known for her fun, quick-to-smile, and optimistic personality, Steffany embodies a philosophy that life doesn't happen to you, but rather for you. She has coached NHL teams, Olympic athletes, and business leaders, creating a lasting impact through her values-driven approach to performance and leadership. Steffany is the founder of Quantum Speed High-Performance Skating Systems and co-owner of the SkateTech Group of Companies, where she continues to redefine athlete development and mental performance. Beyond her work with top-tier athletes, she is passionate about nurturing the potential of young entrepreneurs and athletes alike. As a leader, she empowers them to see opportunities in every challenge, fostering resilience and growth. Her influence extends beyond the ice. Together with her husband Patrick, Steffany co-founded the SHIFT coaching program and co-hosts the Mindset Matters podcast, helping people unlock their greatest potential by setting honest intentions for transformation. In addition to her extensive career, Steffany’s many accolades include the prestigious Order of Ikkos from the U.S. Olympic Committee for her work with Olympic gold medalists Evan Bates and Madison Chock in 2022. She was named U.S. Figure Skating Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2024, received the BMO Celebrating Women Award in 2019, was nominated for the RBC Top 100 Business Women in Canada in 2018 and 2020, and was recognized by the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards as a Trailblazer in 2015.

Tanner Bergsma

Tanner Bergsma is a remarkable young leader in social entrepreneurship and human rights advocacy, having made significant strides at just 22 years old. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Canadian charity Hearts Healing Humanity, Tanner has driven impactful initiatives that offer crucial support to individuals in poverty across Canada. An emerging author, Tanner’s book "From the Bottom Up" reflects their personal journey from overcoming homelessness to becoming a beacon of hope and resilience. Despite their youth, Tanner’s career is marked by strategic vision and a profound commitment to social justice. Their work exemplifies a dedication to creating positive change and inspiring others to rise above their challenges, positioning Tanner as one of Canada's leading neurodivergent youth advocates and leaders in the humanitarian sector.
