In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ana Julia Schoolman

Student + Language enthusiast + Varsity Volleyball Player
Ana Julia is a sophomore at YIS. An avid member of the YIS community, she has been involved in Model UN, Eagles Website and a multitude of other clubs, service groups and varsity sports! A language enthusiast herself, Burmese is her fourth language and she is always aspiring to learn more languages and different cultures at her leisure. Known for her loud voice on the volleyball court, she is keen on inspiring others to use their voice in this ever-developing world.

Devanandan Batumalai

Business leader + Managing Director at KBZ Bank
Our guest speaker Mr Devan is the current managing director of KBZ bank and has been with KBZ bank since October 2017. Prior to this, he has held leadership roles too in various banking organizations since 2009 in other banks along with FMCG industries. Within his time as a leader he has established digital initiatives in learning such as KBZ Digital learning academy and a 108 Trainer Programme which enables 15,000 employees to be trained at any moment. Through his leadership he has acted as a catalyst for learning and development and hopes to further foster another generation of leaders.

Htet Myat Myo Than

Student + Avid participant in Model United Nations + Volunteer
Sulaiman (Htet Myat Myo Than) is a senior at YIS. He is a proud member of the community who is often seen around school events, participating as an emcee, a singer, or volunteer. He holds leadership roles in many school clubs, most notably Model United Nations. Outside of school, he enjoys helping people in the local community to improve their standards of living and quality of life.

Entrepreneur + Founder of Flow (music streaming app)
Steph Koko, an entrepreneur with seven years of experience in the music industry, has recently launched a new music streaming app called Flow. With a deep understanding of the Burmese music landscape, Steph has developed Flow to offer a seamless and enjoyable listening experience. The app is designed to cater to the diverse tastes and preferences of music enthusiasts in Burma, reflecting Steph’s commitment to providing a high-quality music streaming application. Through Flow, Steph aims to enhance how people discover and enjoy music, building on their experience and passion for the industry.

Tim Palladino

Chemistry & physics teacher + Jiu Jitsu black belt holder
Tim Palladino, a dedicated educator with fifteen years of experience, currently teaches IB Chemistry, Physics and ToK at YIS. With a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics, Tim has a strong academic foundation that complements his teaching skills. Over the years, he has taught on different continents, gaining diverse cultural perspectives and enriching his teaching approach. In addition to his academic expertise, Tim holds a black belt in jiu jitsu, reflecting his discipline and commitment. Through his multifaceted background, Tim aims to inspire and educate students, fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment in the world.
